Swarovski Genuine Gemstones – a commitment to responsibility
Swarovski Genuine Gemstones dazzle with their impeccable cut and color. But since true quality is more than what the eye can see, we are also working towards offering fully traceable, responsibly sourced and produced products.
Committed to Responsible Production
Every stage of our genuine gemstones production– the sorting, cutting, polishing, and packaging – takes place in Swarovski-owned facilities. We can therefore ensure safe, state-of-the-art workplaces that respect the human rights of each of our employees and exceed legal requirements for safety and security in our chosen business markets. Our unique technology helps to manage and reduce the environmental impacts of our production, whilst our innovative manufacturing processes ensure the efficient consumption of natural resources.
Committed to Offering Transparency
Our responsibility extends beyond our own factory walls. That is why we are committed to addressing the sector-wide challenges around transparency in the genuine gemstones supply chain. Where we can, we source our genuine gemstones directly from the mines. Our suppliers are assessed according to our Supplier Code-of-Conduct and Mineral Extraction Policy, which make sure human rights are safeguarded at mine sites and environmental impacts are well managed.
Swarovski Genuine Topaz is the first product group that we have completely shifted to traceable sourcing. New demand in topaz rough comes from mining communities in Brazil, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. Our commitment to these communities helps to support the local people and economy. It is our ambition to roll this paradigm out across our entire range of genuine gemstones. Watch this space for updates.
Committed to Leading the way in our industry
We also aim to inspire other market players to find solutions for the most compelling sustainability issues that surround colored gemstones together. As a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, we are collaborating with our peers and partners in the gemstones industry to raise the bar on responsible sourcing and traceability across the industry as a whole. We are also a founding member of the Colored Gemstones Working Group, which is currently developing a due diligence framework for environmental, health and safety, business integrity and social best practices for the industry. We believe that it is only through cooperation and leadership that lasting change can be initiated.
