Russian Design Contest Produces the Essence of a ‘Tropical Paradise’
Take an inspiring topic like “Tropical Paradise”, offer it to a group of talented jewelry designers and what you get is some brilliant creative designs. A recent Swarovski design competition in Russia met these criteria to produce stunning jewelry pieces that were visually exciting and fashion-forward, leaving the judges a difficult task to select the most outstanding.
The winner was Ekaterina Mavrina, from “Topaz” Kostroma Jewelry for her IPANEMA necklace.
The designer combined gold, enamel and the rich color palette of Swarovski Zirconia to create a golden coconut cup filled with tropical fruits infused with the spirit of the legendary Brazilian beach. Ms. Mavrina and four fellow finalists were invited to the head office of Swarovski in Moscow for the presentation. Her design also won her a trip to Swarovski headquarters in Wattens, Austria, to meet the brand’s own design team, and to visit Swarovski Kristallwelten, the company’s museum and homage to the brilliance of its products.
