The Future is Equal
Swarovski and a Women’s Day Commitment
Swarovski takes International Women’s Day (March 8), and its ‘The Future is Equal’ slogan, to heart with its pledge to promote the empowerment of women. The brand’s own values and principles are aligned with those of Women’s Day, which highlights women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements, and a commitment to accelerating gender parity.
The World Economic Forum estimates it will take 217 years to close the economic gender gap. Harvard Business Review says companies can be more creative, more innovative and add 35% to their bottom line with a recruitment policy of diversity. UN Women state that 31m women and their families would be lifted out of poverty if the gender pay gap was solved. Meanwhile, at home, 90% of Swarovski’s customers are women, so are 78% of its employees.
Above all, Swarovski empowers and enables all of its people, and its partners, to shine brighter, be bolder and spark change together. Swarovski is committed to inclusion, diversity and advancing gender equality. Women are encouraged to fulfil their potential because it is good for business and has a positive impact on society. The company’s mentoring and leadership programs create a more diverse and inclusive leadership. Swarovski believes in fair and safe working conditions for all, a healthy work-life balance, equal access to career advancement and development opportunities.
The Swarovski Foundation also partners with organizations that provide access to training, education and economic opportunities. Swarovski is a signatory of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, and is part of the UN Women UK National Committee Corporate Advisory Group, which supports gender equality. Swarovski is also a founding member of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) and is a Lean In partner to champion women in the workplace and society.
New legislation, social movements and changes in 2019 are poised to advance equality for all. Now on Women’s Day 2019, Swarovski renews its pledge to empower women because “The Future is Equal”.
